About a boot
I am viscerally disgusted at the thought of yesterday's 'peace' protests. It's not enough in this world, apparently, to liberate two countries, from terrible, crushing despotism.
Remember well what Orwell said in 1984. "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - for ever." When you think of the Taliban's, or Hussein's despotism, that's the image you have to have in mind. Focus, and read the words a few times. A boot. Stamping. A human face. Not just any human face. Your wife, your child, your father. That is what despotism is.
Some people can't get past the idea that Bush Lied!!!. It's complete and total bunk. Bush didn't lie. But even if he did, I can't imagine any argument that would justify reversing our course in Iraq. These people call themselves humanitarians. So-called Human rights organizations. There are words that best describe people who, not only support, but actively promote, throwing the entire nation of Iraq to the wolves that surround them. The words are all profane.
It's absolutely disgusting.
I'll repeat a story I've told before. I asked a good junior-NCO friend of mine, an Arabic interpreter for the US Army, whether he thought we had done the right thing in invading Iraq. The conversation was held over an instant messaging program, and I still shed tears at his response. I got called down so hard, my eyes misted up just now, just thinking of the experience that happened more than 2 months ago. He was apalled that I would even ask. Conditions in Iraq, and in Afghanistan, were an abomination.
So there's my thoughts. The first one-year-tour troops are getting home from Iraq now. I think their stories are going to start filtering out into the general public.
For more on the protests, as they relate to Arizona, see Useful Fools. Watch for my comments at the bottom of the story.

perhaps you could read 1984 again...newspeak? sounds like bush to me...video (and otherwise) surveillance? sounds like john "i lost to a dead man" ashcroft...and perhaps you know which dates between 1960 and 2001 that saddam hussein was "our friend" and which dates he was "our enemy". if you weren't so busy being sickened by peace marches you might find a bit of time to be sickened by the united states military-industrial complex's habit of selling weapons to despots and then deciding that we need to go kill thousands of civilians to get the weapons back...sheesh. use your brain already...it doesn't cost you anything.
